New Organization: Orgs Tab
Page Overview
The New Organization page's Orgs tab is the second step in the organization creation process within GForge. This tab allows users to establish hierarchical relationships for their new organization by selecting parent and child projects. Organizations in GForge function as containers that can hold sub-projects and sub-organizations, creating a structured project hierarchy.
The page is divided into two main sections: Parent Project selection and Child Project(s) management. In the Parent Project section, users can search for and select an existing project to serve as the parent organization for the new project being created. The current status shows "(none)" indicating no parent has been selected yet. Users must be members of a project to designate it as a parent.
The Child Project(s) section displays a table that will list any projects designated as children of the new organization. Currently showing "(none)", this table will populate with project names, their status, and available actions once child projects are added. Below the table is a search field where users can find and add child projects to the organization.
Both search fields include dropdown functionality and location icons, suggesting they provide filtered search results as users type. Important permission requirements are noted: users must be project members to select parent projects, and must have Project Admin privileges to assign child projects. The page includes a "Finish" button at the bottom, currently disabled until all required fields are completed, along with a validation message prompting users to enter required information.
